Introduction

About Spellblade

Spellblade is a multiplayer tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) that emphasizes expression through a simple, robust, and extremely flexible set of rules that emphasizes creativity and role playing while reducing the load placed in the Game Master.

Game Flow

With a group of at least three, one person is designated as the "Game Master" (GM, or often 'DM') and the rest are designated as "players". The Game Master uses Spellblade's rules and resources to create a structured fantasy setting with characters, monsters, environments, obstacles, and stories for the players to interact with using their Player Characters (PCs) they create. Players embody one primary PC in a game, controlling its intended actions how the player wishes.

Playing a Character

Each player during a game has a character it controls during the game. A player decides any actions that character makes. To make a character for this game, reference the Character Creation section of this rulebook. Player characters are treated as a type of creature in the game world and can receive any effects and conditions that can affect other creatures unless otherwise specified. Some player characters start with or can receive during the game a player-controlled creature other than the player’s character. The player additionally controls all actions made by that creature on the same turn as the player’s character.
